Empowering book. I have a Masters in African Studies from UCLA and with the exception of Mali, Songhay and Ghana empires, nothing in this book was taught to us. I was self-confident and comfortable in my dark skin before reading this book but after reading this book, I feel so proud of my history...a history I never knew existed.

Gonna keep this short. Great book, a must read for any African American. Don't worry about the 1-star reviews. This book was originally intended to be a multi-volume collection for African history before, during, and after slavery. The reason it isn't is because of the author's Chancellor Williams eye sight going bad so he released what he had. He's blind now but there is concrete names, dates, etc. that you can search up if you're feeling doubtful. I gave this book to my mother after reading it a month ago so I can't give you an exact part to search if you want instant gratification but I'll update my review when I get the book back. Side note there are afro picks in Egypt. The new argument for that is that those were only afro headdresses. Egyptians were us or had a very strong liking towards us Africans. Either way, that should be saying something. You can find this info on Google. You won't find anything to disprove that.

I will not say I'm a great reviewer of books, but what I learned from this book is priceless. When you try to cross-check things on the internet there is very little if anything that supports the facts in this great book, but that to me has been the intent from the very beginning. I highly recommend reading this book. People need to see the facts and know how great people of color were and how the destruction began and continues to this day.

Reading this book is a life changing experience. Chancellor Williams, not only gave us the Who, What, Why, Where, When and How we got where we are, as African people, he also give us a plan of action (that's not on the last 10 pages of a 200 page book).

I wouldn't waste money on this. I've never written a bad review, but this book was not factual at all. It is misleading Black people even more.

This book has given me a whole different perspective on history, race and human relations. It's a must-read, period. I feel so much smarter and very equipped for profound dialogue after reading this book.

I recommend this book. As a man who has traveled extensively from country to country many of the claims that the writer make, in my opinion are valid. I find this book very enlightening and eye opening to the realism of the world. Why is it so that after years of promises, rallies, demonstrations, committees at the government and local levels nothing truly has changed...the picture just shifted to give the appearance of change. Why is it so that there is little to no history of the black people or the kingdoms built by us?

Great information.
